Let’s Go Fly A Kite: Tiananmen Square

First time flying the kite! In the crowed, heavily guarded Tienamen Square it was not easy-peasy. There wasn’t really enough wind and I attracted a crowd of Chinese folks wondering what on earth I was doing. However, in a less crowded area (nearer to the portrait of Mao you can see in the background of some of the pictures than to the People’s Monument) I caught a breeze and soared a wee bit.

    • No, but one of the guys in my group wanted to get one! I’m thinking about getting one of the bedazzled parasols that most of the Chinese tourist women carry, though – they’re like umbrellas but covered in embroidery and sequins.
